Mouthwatering

Today I went to Burger King and ordered a Whopper Jr.  When I pulled it out of the wrapper, my eyes beheld the single most perfectly crafted fast food hamburger (or probably any hamburger, for that matter) that I had ever seen.  Few things can be described as "Practically Perfect in Every Way" besides Mary Poppins, but this was one of them.  And the fries!  Oh my gosh, they were still warm from the fryer and were crispy and golden but not burnt and then soft on the inside.  Whoever was working that Burger King tonight, kudos to you!!
I also have to commend McDonald's on their now 49soft serve cone.  Best. deal. ever.  49 cents!  Vanilla soft serve!  Edible container!  What more do you want??  That's all :)

Neilisms

Just this morning Neil took a drink, then he turns to us and says, "I wish water had less flavor."  The responses?  "That's like wishing that a Hershey bar had more chocolate!  Or that the ghost pepper was spicier!  Or that air had less color!"
Neil also told us today that he went outside when it was 93 degrees and it felt cold, because his body temperature is 98.6.  Next time you meet a kid who thinks he feels cold in sweltering hot weather and humidity, let me know.  Then we can possibly figure out where Neil came from.
Also on Friday my mom and I went to see a play at a dinner theater.  When the waitress came to give us our check, she laid an empty tray on our table, then informed us that the gentleman at the table behind us had paid for our dessert.  I was incredibly taken and touched by this.  This man clearly had people on his radar other than himself.  Just one more instance to prove that not only Boy Scouts can and should do a good turn daily :)

Quote for Today

"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, for Shakespeare wrote poetry.  He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper, who did his job well."

Love This

"Closely related to our own obligation to repent is the generosity of letting others do the same...In this we participate in the very essence of the Atonement of Jesus Christ...We don't want God to remember our sins, so there is something fundamentally wrong in our relentlessly trying to remember others' sins...It is one of those ironies of godhood that in order to find peace, the offended as well as the offender must engage the principle of FORGIVENESS."

19 of my favorite JOKES

I seriously love jokes.  I love laughing till my abs kill and I'm crying and have to pee.  Family dinner tonight was like that :) Laughing makes you stronger and healthier and live longer, and this way I can keep track of my favorite jokes for future benefit. Hehe

What's worse than finding a worm in your apple? Finding half a worm in your apple.

Why did the dinosaur cross the road?  It was the chicken's day off.

"Have you heard of the movie Constipated?"  "No..."  "It hasn't come out yet." (Sorry gross :p)

Knock-knock.  Who's there?  To.  To who?  No, it's to whom!

Dyslexic man walks into a bra

What did the tie say to the hat?  You go on ahead, I'll hang around here.

Who was the greatest financier in the Bible?  Noah. He was floating his stock while everyone else was in liquidation.

Who was the greatest female financier in the Bible?  Pharaoh's daughter.  She went down to the bank of the Nile and drew out a little prophet.

What kind of man was Boaz before he got married?  Ruth-less

Why didn't Noah go fishing?  He only had 2 worms.

What kind of motor vehicles were used in the Bible?  A Honda, because the Apostles were all in one Accord.

Tennis is mentioned in the Bible.  Joseph served in Pharaoh's court.

What kind of driver doesn't have a license? A screwdriver.

I went to buy some camouflage pants the other day, but I couldn't find any.

Why did the pilgrim's pant's fall down?  He was wearing his belt buckle on his hat!

Why do seagulls live by the sea??  If they lived by the bay, they'd be bagels!

What happened to the goose when he got cold?  He got people bumps

A woman has twins, and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named 'Amal.' The other goes to a family in Spain, they name him 'Juan'. Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his mom. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal. Her husband responds: ''But they are twins. If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal.''

Oh, the Irony

I love irony. It cracks me up.  Especially irony in real life.  Like the guy who loved bears so much that he went to live with them, and then was eaten by one.  Or like in the book Into the Wild (true story), Chris McCandless donates $24,000 to a world-hunger-fighting organization then goes and dies of starvation.  Or the time when my seminary teacher asked who should take the keys to his house, me or my brother Tanner?  Every single kid said I should take them because I'm more responsible and remember things better.  Guess who left the key on the table?  Oh, the irony.  Or the time when I was deciding what to wear and had the specific thought that there was no chance I would see a certain person that day and then I met up with said person because we went to the same dang restaurant!  Is it karma or just a crazy coincidence?
Also one of the hidden talents I have: I am great at biking no handed.  And I love pillows, sneezing, and strawberries with milk and sugar.

Quote of the Day

"There are none so impoverished as those who do not acknowledge the abundance of their lives."

We all get to feeling that the grass is greener somewhere else.  Truth is, the grass isn't greener anywhere else.  Try and think of some else's situation you'd rather be in and I guarantee you have something you love that they do not. Your life was made for you by someone who knows you perfectly; how much greener do you want it???  You have every tool you need.  Most of the time, we just aren't letting the grass get as green as it can!  In each of our worlds, green grass shouldn't be a seasonal thing.  People, life is worth loving!!  Great days are worth having often!!  Smiling is worth doing all the time :)
Also, go ahead and make someone else's day!  You'll make yours while you're at it :)

YYYUUUUMMM

I am so indecisive that I hardly ever choose favorites of anything, but Oreo balls definitely rank up top as far as food.  They're kinda like buckeyes, only with rich Oreo pleasure on the inside and creamy cool white chocolate on the outside.  All you have to do is mix (with an electric mixer) one normal size package of crushed up Oreos with one normal size package of softened cream cheese until it gets like dough.  Then you roll it into little balls and stick em in the freezer to harden if you want.  Dip them in melted white chocolate and let them harden and poof!  You are guaranteed to quickly become the most popular person in the house.

Poem for today!

“Tell me I'm clever,

Tell me I'm kind,

Tell me I'm talented,

Tell me I'm cute,

Tell me I'm sensitive, Graceful and wise,

Tell me I'm perfect- But tell me the truth.”

It Happened!

You know that loose tooth that I blogged about a little while ago?  It came out today!!  I was at the orthodontist and I told the little assistant lady that I thought my molar was loose and she looks at me with a question mark look and says, "Um, it shouldn't be loose. It's just mobile." Whatever.  It was pretty wiggly.  So she told the orthodontist when he sat down and he put his finger on it, wiggled it a tad, then snapped the root and pulled it out!  That was that! All the while the orthodontist and I were having a lovely conversation about my summer plans.
Also for fun, here are 12 foods that, according to Yahoo, have super-healing powers: kiwi, cherries, guava, beans, watercress, spinach, onions, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, kale, and dandelion.  But if you're me, it's just a V8 a day to keep the doctor away.  While we're on the subject of food that's good for you, you should all know that I did get to eat some of my birthday cake today :)  Nom nom

Mostly More Neilisms

It's a good day in the world.  Thanks to all who helped make it so :)
A few funny stories, since I guess those are my favorite thing to blog about.  My older brother Tanner was talking about girls and dating and stuff and he goes, "Well, there are a lotta fish in the sea."  Me: "You just have to find the rainbow fish." (I couldn't think of any fish that was superior to all the others.) Neil: "No, you just have to find the fish that's about to go extinct...using sonar." Hehe
And later he was trying to dis my little brother Grant (as he quite often does) and he was like, "The youngest child is usually the least....um...."(he was about to insert a word like smart, mature etc.) But finally this pause had lasted long enough and from the other side of the kitchen we hear faintly from Dad..."Old."
I'm not one to try to complain but I have been unfortunately ill the last two days...and I didn't even get to eat my own birthday cake!  For anyone who was beginning to think that the world was perfect, here's proof that injustices DO still exist.

Thoughts for Sunday

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!  I have kind of a lot to say today on the Sabbath, so read this if you want to :) Who knows, maybe it could even help ya out.
So first off, someone came up to me this morning and asked me how I was.  I answered that I was okay.  "Just okay?" they said.  "How come not great??"  My first inclination was to say that I just had no reason to be great, but then I realized that that's not how it's supposed to work!! We should not say that we are so-so because we have no reason to be great, we should say we are fabulous because, well, why not??  We have a zillion reasons to be feeling wonderful: we each have families that love us, we get to eat good meals 3 times a day, we live in a lovely world, we get to go to sleep and dream every night and wake up to a brand new day with new adventures! Point is, we should have an overlying attitude of optimism.  Makes us more attractive and makes life worth living :)
You've probably heard the cheesy little quote that says, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift and that's why we call it the present!"  But you know, there is truth in that.  Every single day, every moment we are on this earth, is a gift.  Think about it.  I remember clearly the day I realized this.  Each is yet another moment that we get to be learning, living in our bodies that are a gift from God, enjoying relationships and feeling love, seeing beauty, and living life.  It could be taken away any time, which is even more reason to be grateful.  Of Heavenly Father it is said, "Him who has created you from the beginning, and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another..."
Last is something I was thinking about during church today.  When Christ was dying on the cross, he looked out at the people who had just pierced his head with thorns, beaten him, and driven nails through his hands and feet, and he turned toward heaven and said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."  Not only is this maybe the greatest example of forgiveness ever, it makes me think about how Christ is our advocate with the Father, and is pleading each of our cases before him.  I can't help but think of me here on earth, making mistakes because of my ignorance and imperfections and lack of knowledge, and Christ turning to the Father and saying, "Forgive her, for she knows not what she does."  What a display of pure love.
And if your mind is not already on overload, go and read today's quote.  Think about it for a sec.  It is one of my very favorites.
